Warehouse Art Museum

About Us

The Warehouse Art Museum (WAM) is the only museum in Milwaukee, Wisconsin dedicated exclusively to the exhibition and study of modern and contemporary art. Opened in 2018, WAM occupies a historic five-story concrete and brick warehouse in the city’s iconic Menomonee Valley. The museum’s international collection reflects the personal vision and values of WAM’s co-founders Jan Serr and John Shannon.

Mission-driven programming at WAM includes four or five gallery exhibitions each year, often featuring guest curators, with concurrent artist talks, guest speakers, and guided exhibition tours. WAM supports the unity of the arts through regular collaborations with dance, film, music, and theater presenters. WAM’s Plumb Press also maintains an active publication and video presence.

Our Mission

The purpose of art is to remember some things, forget others, and refresh the dry places of the soul.

- Robertson Davies*

The Warehouse Art Museum exists to delight, educate, and inspire through the exhibition and study of modern and contemporary art. When we accomplish our mission, we have helped heal a great wound in our world.

- Jan Serr & John Shannon, Co-Founders
